New Year's Eve: looking back and looking ahead

The Family of Third Baptist got together on New Year's eve to dedicate the new year to the Glory of God. There was plenty of food and fellowship. We had a chance to look back and take stock of the many blessings God has given us over the years. We would love to have you join the family of God and start sharing in those blessings. Don't put it off another year. Now is the time of salvation.

Loving the Brethren

Pastor FredPastor Fred preached a compelling message about loving our brothers and sisters in Christ. It seems like something we would take for granted, but some of us have let our love grow cold. In some cases we actually harbor resentment toward them. "How can you say you love God whom you cannot see and then fail to love your brother whom you can see?" It's impossible to love God and hate your brother or sister at the same time. Are we expressing a sacrificial love toward others? You can order this message "Loving the brethren" at any of the church services or by calling (508) 673-5535.

Giving Thanks

AlOn November 23, 2011 we held our annual Thanksgiving Eve Fireside service. It was a chance for the family at Third Baptist Church to get together and share their testimonies and declare some of their reasons for being thankful to God. There were many heartfelt prayers for God's provision in this difficult economy. Others gave thanks for the family we have at our church. We may have our differences from time to time just like any family, but we never stop being brothers and sisters. No matter what we go through we can give thanks to God for the great gift He has given us through His son Jesus. We may not fully appreciate it now, but we will when we face eternity.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; - 2 Corinthians 4:17

BaptismWe also gave thanks for the people who came to the service and went through the waters of baptism and publicly proclaimed what Jesus had done in their hearts. Baptism is not required for salvation. It is an act of obedience that declares you are ready to start living your life by God's plan and not your own. We rejoice to see people committing their lives to the Lord. We hope to see more people baptized on Christmas Day. If you haven't been baptized since you accepted Jesus, please consider making that important decision soon.

"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." - Psalm 100:4

Stop and remember that Thanksgiving is not about parades, turkey, or football games. It's about recognizing that all we have comes from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Miracle Roof

The Miracle RoofJust a few short months ago we were praying for a new roof for the old building before Winter set in. We started to raise money through a special fund, but it was hurting our general fund. Just when things looked bleak, we were blessed with a series of generous offerings that got us out of the red AND paid for the roof. Some might refer to this as a fortunate coincidence, but we know it as the Miraculous Provision of God. Besides, the word "coincidence" is never used in the Bible. In fact, there's no word for "coincidence" in ancient Hebrew.
